Mike Schlect is the Private Wealth Tax Practice Leader for the Western United States as well as the Private Wealth Tax Controversy Leader.
In his roles, he leads over 250 colleagues to develop and deliver innovative tax solutions related to the income, gift, and estate tax planning matters for Private Wealth clients. He then assists clients in defense of those solutions against the IRS and state taxing authorities. He began his career with Deloitte in 2008, and he works exclusively with families, their family offices and their charitable vehicles.
In addition, he is a member of Deloitte’s National Estate, Gift, Trust and Charitable Planning Competency Group, responsible for maintaining the technical competency within Deloitte.
Previously, Mike worked in Deloitte’s Washington National Tax practice in Washington, D.C. In the National Office, he focused on technical development of tax planning ideas and risk management for estate, gift, trust, and charitable matters, including the defense of those matters before the IRS and state taxing authorities.
