Frequently asked questions
Q. What is a shotgun start?
A: A shotgun start is a popular format for golf tournaments and allows everyone to start and finish together. Foursomes will be assigned different starting holes, and each group will begin play promptly at 12:00 pm. Golfers will play all 18 holes, from their designated starting hole through the course in order until they have played all holes and returned to where they started.
Q. What is a golf scramble / scramble format?
A. In a scramble format, each foursome competes as a team. Each team member hits a tee shot on each hole. The team then collectively decides which of the four balls is in the best position to play next. This format makes it fun for team members of all skill levels!
Q. What’s the schedule of events? How long is the tournament?
A. We have a full day of golfing and other fun events planned. You can check in as early as 10:30 am and get some practice on the driving range and putting greens. We’ll even have a putting contest before the Golf Scramble begins at 12:00 pm. Tournament play may take as long as five hours. As soon as your team has completed all 18 holes (approximately 5:00 pm), you can head to the Clubhouse to check out the silent auction, awards banquet and cash bar.
Q. What is the appropriate attire for the tournament and for the dinner? Are there any restrictions on what I can bring or wear?
Yes. Glendale Country Club has some clear policies about what guests can wear while on the course and in the Clubhouse. There is also a list of prohibited items. Please visit glendalecc.com/Golf/Dress_Code for more information.
Q. What if I don’t have a complete foursome? Can my friend and I request to play together?
A. We would love to have you join us! When you register, you can buy two individual tickets at the same time and fill in information for each golfer. If you register together, we will place you on the same team with other individual golfers. If you and your friend register separately, you can use the “special accommodation” field to request to be teamed up with your friend, if possible.
Q. Can I sign up alone?
A. Yes! We’d love to have you join us for the day. We will randomly assign individual registrants to form teams of four players each.
Q. Do I need a certain skill level? What if I’m new to golf or not very good?
A. We recommend that you have some golf experience and know you have the stamina for 18 holes of tournament play. You will also need to wear appropriate golf attire and bring your own clubs. While the tournament is a friendly competition, each foursome competes as a team with the strongest golfer setting the pace. This is a fun community event and a great way to show your support for our Bellevue College Bulldogs.
Q. Is there a prize?
A. Yes! There will be several tournament prizes awarded (Subject to Change)
First place: $100 gift card to Glendale pro shop for each of the four players on the team
Second place: $75 gift card to Glendale pro shop for each of the four players on the team
Third place: $50 gift card to Glendale pro shop for each of the four players on the team
Last place: A gift certificate to Puetz driving range in Seattle to practice for each player in the foursome
Q. Can I rent clubs for the day?
A. No. You will need to bring your own clubs.
Q. I’m not a golfer, but I love the Bulldogs! Can I attend just the auction and awards banquet?
A. Yes. We have a banquet-only option. Please plan to join us at the Clubhouse at approximately 5:00 pm to check out the silent auction and enjoy the banquet and cash bar.
Q. Is there free parking on site?
A. Yes. There is plenty of parking available.
